UberPool lets customers share a car ride with a stranger.
Carpooling via Uber has , just three weeks after Lyft Line service here.
Dubbed UberPOOL, the new ride-sharing service feature matches up people in similar locations who are traveling to similar destinations.
UberPOOL only available in downtown Denver. But the company says future expansion is “likely.”
The company launched POOL elsewhere in August 2014 and says that 100,000 people around the globe user the service each week. But to kick it off in Denver, the company will charge $5 per trip for the first two weeks.
After that, the cost should still be cheaper than regular Uber service, even if no one joins your POOL trip — apparently a change in that only offered a discount if the ride was actually shared.
How to? Head to the Uber app and select “Share Your Car” and tap “Request POOL.”
Uber promises that stopping for an extra passenger never takes you “more than a few minutes out of your way,” according to the company.
