Adams County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a fatal shooting in Denver early Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Jim Morgan, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said a caller reported shots fired at about 4 a.m. outside the Super 8 hotel on 5888 Broadway.

When deputies arrived, they found a man who had been shot. Morgan said the man was pronounced dead on the scene.

The caller had also given authorities a description of a vehicle that may have been involved.

When deputies arrived, they found a vehicle matching the description, and stopped it less than “half a block away,” Morgan said.

Deputies learned later that the vehicle they stopped was not involved in the shooting. A description of the vehicle investigators are searching for was not made available.

The identity of the man who was killed has also not been released.
