Regarding photo radar, I suspect that most people feel as I do — that if you deserve the ticket, you should simply take your medicine. The frustration results from tickets that feel undeserved — a red-light ticket from a very short yellow light or a speeding ticket from a speed trap. I was recently driving northbound on Federal Boulevard in Sheridan when I got caught. The van was situated just past the crest of a hill, so I was accelerating to maintain speed up the hill. I did not make a fuss or write a nasty letter. I paid the fine, which, at $40, was not a hardship. Then I looked up a map of the city of Sheridan and vowed to never spend another penny there. This is because I did not feel I deserved the ticket. Quite simply, I felt preyed upon.
There are financial ramifications beyond the income generated by these types of traps.
