Getting your player ready...

Whether you think ukuleles are delightful music boxes or annoying background music for TV ads, Denver Ukefest long ago outlived any notion that it’s a trendy, temporary event. Now in its ninth year, the festival put on by Swallow Hill Music Association celebrates all aspects of the compact stringed instrument from workshops and group jams to public concerts. This year’s artists include local and national uke luminaries, including James Hill (above), Daniel Ho, Del Rey, Julia Nunes, Paul Hemmings, Milk Blossoms and Book ‘Em Danno. All events at Swallow Hill Music, 71 E. Yale Ave. $27-$29 for single shows, $60-$80 for workshop and day passes, $110-$130 festival passes. .
