A Jefferson County jury has convicted a man in the , prosecutors say.

Gordon Moench, 56, was found guilty , including attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault with a deadly weapon.

The verdict was handed down Wednesday after nearly two weeks of trial, according to court records.

Authorities said Moench summoned the officers — Kimberly Collins and Jonathan Key — to his home in July 2014 . He was armed with three guns, including an SKS assault-style rifle and a spare 30-round magazine, investigators said.

When Moench called 911 just before 10 p.m. on the night of the shooting to lure police to his residence, he left authorities with an ominous warning.

There is a “guy out front with a gun ready to kill a bunch of people,” Moench told a dispatcher, court papers said.

The dispatcher asked who the caller was.

“I’m the guy with the gun,” Moench said.

Key was shot through the windshield as he was slowing his patrol car near the house. Collins was hit as she was approaching Moench on foot.

Moench, who was wounded by police in the encounter, later said the shootout amounted to an attempted “suicide by cop” as part of efforts to leave his wife with the pay-out from a life insurance policy.

Moench’s wife, Audrey Moench, had called police before the shooting to say that the two were in the process of separating and that her husband had told her he “no longer wanted to live,” according to court documents.

Audrey Moench also told dispatchers there was going to “be a battle,” warning that her estranged husband had several firearms.

Court records show Moench is slated to be sentenced on June 23. He is being held at the Jefferson County jail.
