Sam Bradford to the Broncos? It was in the works.

After the Philadelphia Eagles signed quarterback Chase Daniels and traded up for the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL draft — which resulted in quarterback Carson Wentz — Bradford’s agent said he was looking for a way to get his client traded. That place was Denver.

In an interview on , Tom Condon said he orchestrated a plan to get Bradford out of Philadelphia.

We realized we’re short-term in Philadelphia and so … they made a business decision, our next business decision is this: Can we improve our situation? And the Denver Broncos certainly needed a quarterback at the time. Or it looked like they needed a quarterback at the time. They’ve got Mark Sanchez — good guy, good player — but was there a chance we could get there. And so Sam withdrew from the workouts and voiced his displeasure. And at that point, the desired result occurred. The Denver Broncos engaged with Philadelphia, (but) they couldn’t make a deal. And when they couldn’t make a deal, they drafted the quarterback (Paxton Lynch) in the first round. At that point, they’re no longer interested in Sam.

Smith asked Condon why not have Bradford go into the 2016 season and “play lights out to get a long-term deal from somebody else?”

Condon answered: “Because we had a shot at the Super Bowl team.”

Bradford, 28, signed a two-year, $36 million contract extension with Philadelphia in March.
