Colorado Republican congressman Mike Coffman is chairman of the subcommittee.
Coffman and others have been sharply because of massive cost overruns at a veterans medical center under construction in the Denver suburb of Aurora.
The hospital is expected to cost $1.7 billion, estimated in 2014.
Elsewhere, the VA has been questioned about whether doctors were over-prescribing painkillers.
