Frontier spokesman Jim Faulkner said pilots shut down the problem engine before diverting to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
the plane, an Airbus 321, made several loops around the airport before landing.
The airline flew planes to New Orleans to accommodate the passengers on the rest of their trip. By midafternoon most were likely on their way, he said.
