Downtown Denver presents its yearly mosaic of the Colorado art scene this Memorial Day weekend with ArtStir, a gathering of more than 100 local and regional artists from around the state. Voted Best New Festival by Westword Magazine in 2014, the two-day event is back for its fourth year to showcase original works in painting, hand-crafted goods, photography and mixed media.
More than 100,000 attendees are expected at this year’s festival. ArtStir is located between 15th and 16th streets on Glenarm Place and runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
The fourth year of the festival at Denver Pavilions provides a peek at works from various art districts, in media ranging from glass-blowing to fashion and dance shows. Also on the scene will be a swath of food and drink vendors from the Pavilions including Hard Rock Cafe Denver, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria and Maggiano’s Little Italy. New event sponsor Budweiser will provide local beers on tap. Families can enjoy demonstrations, music performances and activities for kids.
Part of the festival’s proceeds will go to benefit the nonprofit , an organization that works to provide creative, economic and educational opportunities for people with disabilities. Artwork from VSA Colorado artists will be featured and for sale during the event.
