Here’s your friendly, completely subjective roundup of outdoor (and some indoor) activities to do during the weekend. For a complete list of events and to submit future affairs, go to .

Check your local weekend weather . FYI: It’s supposed to be spectacular.

When: Saturday and Sunday
Where: Statewide
Cost: Free
Why you should go: This isn’t exactly on The Denver Post’s , but it’s still my duty to inform Colorado residents and tourists that it’s statewide Free Fishing Weekend. This totally highlights the weekend, without a question. A fishing license is not required Saturday and Sunday, but all other regulations and fees — bag limits, state park vehicle pass, etc. — still apply. Let’s eat.

Where: Garden Acres Park (1858 Spencer St., Longmont)

Why you should go: Few things in life really stack up to the joys of being jacked and tan. You can become both of these things (if you’re 18 or older) at six classes at various parks in Longmont this summer, and it’s absolutely free.

Why you should go: It’s going to be beautiful Sunday, and there will be plenty of animals, birds and bugs to fall in love with along the South Platte River. Plus I know you like nature, otherwise you wouldn’t be here right now, in the middle of this sentence.
