The trouble started May 31, when police say Matthew Hall, 31, led officers on a wild chase while holding a woman against her will in a stolen car. According to an arrest affidavit, officers attempted to stop Hall for speeding and driving with a broken turn signal.
During the chase, Hall sped up and then slammed on his brakes, which police said was an attemp to wreck the patrol car. Hall then turned off the highway into a cow pasture where he first hit an oil battery fence before striking a cow.
The woman in his vehicle, later identified as Samantha Dunn,21, was arrested on three warrants after she was treated for cuts and bruises. She told police Hall kept her in the vehicle against her will and that she asked him three times to stop as the officer pursued them, but he refused.
