Getting your player ready...

Among the handful of U.S. live dates announced for 2016, British pop-folk band is playing Greenwood Village’s  on Sept. 28, a show that’s sure to sell out given Mumford’s strong showing at last year’s  stopover in Salida — and the fact that most of its other North American shows are sold out (or fast on their way).

But outside of trying your luck on ticketing site  and the usual phone lines (888-929-7849) when the public on-sale begins at 10 a.m. MDT on Friday, June 10, what’s the best way for fans to ensure a seat at the 17,000-seat venue?

Here are a few ideas:

Presales, whether through fan clubs or media partners, are a reliable tool for promoters and bands to get butts in seats before the public on-sale has even begun. In the case of the Mumford show, there are several. The fan club pre-sale begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, and runs through Thursday, June 9. Fans can sign up for  using social media accounts like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and get an e-mail when the pre-sale begins. You can also sign up for the venue’s presale (and schedule a reminder for it) by creating an axs.com account on the concert’s , or check the Spotify presale on the same page starting tomorrow.

Money matters, which will come as no shock to anyone who’s been to a concert in recent years. If you’ve got the cash to spare for a private box or other promoter AEG Live Rocky Mountains offers the privileged route. Prices aren’t publicly listed, but you can bet they’ll cost more than the $29.50-$65 listed on the all-ages show’s main page. Contact Scott Amerman at 720-418-7115 or samerman@aeglive.com for more information, but keep in mind that the summer 2016 concert season is largely sold out for Fiddler’s boxes.

Waiting in line for tickets seems so very 20th century, but there’s a reason people still do it: physical ticketing locations in grocery stores, at venue box offices and elsewhere tend to offer an advantage if you’re one of the first few dozen people in line. The only physical location selling tickets for the Mumford & Sons show is Fiddler’s box office — and they’re not open Friday, when the general on-sale begins. But if all else fails, you can try your luck there .

Credit card perks have become a ubiquitous offering for companies to remain competitive with concertgoers. American Express users can and enter their member information to put earned points toward the purchase price — although there’s no guarantee of getting a ticket over the general public.

And of course, scalpers. To avoid the ridiculous mark-up of illegitimate after-market ticket sites for sold-out shows, another old-school option is just going to the venue and surveying the price of scalped tickets. We don’t advocate doing anything illegal, of course, but motivated fans often are surprised by what they can find with a bit of legwork and bargaining. We’ve also seen scalped tickets at certain shows going for less than half the original purchase price once the show has started, because scalpers are desperate to get any amount of money for their investment.
