Temperatures are warming up for the next several days in the Denver metro area with a forecast of 86 degrees Wednesday and a high of 94 by Friday.
There will be a chance of scattered rain and thunderstorms in the late afternoon Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
Strong winds out of the east could gust up to 50 mph, said Bernie Meier, a Weather Service meteorologist. Small hail is possible, mostly on the Eastern Plains, he said.
Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
By Thursday, the high temperature will have topped 90 for the first time this year in Denver, Meier said.
After a mostly sunny day, the temperature will drop to a low of 60 degrees Thursday night.
Friday is expected to be another sunny day, and it will be partly cloudy Friday night.
Afternoon rain and thunderstorms are part of the forecast over the weekend and on Monday.
Temperatures are expected to fall gradually from a high of 90 degrees on Saturday to 84 on Sunday, 79 on Monday and 77 on Tuesday, according to the Weather Service.
