Re: “,” June 15 news story.

At last Monday’s Denver City Council meeting where the council voted to OK the stormwater fee hike for funding the Platte to Park Hill Stormwater project, I came away inspired by the courage and commitment of the council members who voted “no” on this issue.

Having taken the time to grapple with the complexities of a project that many citizens and city officials don’t understand, Rafael Espinoza, Paul Kashmann and Kevin Flynn showed their resolve to face the multi-layered challenges facing our city with the scrutiny necessary to make the best decisions.

Councilman Espinoza attempted to synthesize for council members and citizens 1,000-plus pages of pertinent material he’d received that day from the Colorado Department of Transportation after a month-long wait.

Councilmen Flynn and Kashmann urged the City Council to take the time to resolve lingering, unanswered questions about the Platte to Park Hill project.

To see true leadership in action from these courageous councilmen gave me some hope for Denver’s future.

Georgia Garnsey, Denver
