Authorities in Bent County on Monday recovered a body from the John Martin Reservoir in southeast Colorado, two days after reports that a pair of people had fallen into the water.

The county’s emergency management office said search crews had been out on the water “around the clock” until the body was found. Officials identified the person as a male and said he had drowned.

Search and rescue crews were called about 5 p.m. Saturday to the reservoir on reports that two people had fallen into the water.

After the first reports, a helicopter, airplane and drones were dispatched to the area, along with rescue boats, and a female was found and rescued from the reservoir. She was taken to Prowers Medical Center for evaluation.

An update on her condition was not released Monday night.

Details on the drowning were not released, including how the pair fell into the expansive reservoir’s waters.
