
J.C. Penney is looking to hire 150 workers, mostly part time, to help out with the back-to-school rush — and perhaps longer — at its six metro Denver stores.
The new positions are in customer service and support, including cashier, commission sales and merchandise support. Interested applicants can apply in-store at an applicant kiosk or online at . Although the increase is in preparation for the back-to-school season, a company spokesman said most positions could become long-term.
The Plano, Texas-based retailer has 21 stores in Colorado. It closed 33 underperforming stores in May 2014, including one in Colorado Springs, and cut 2,000 jobs. in February, the company announced that it was exploring a sale of its headquarters and a partial leaseback.
