Driver who struck, killed 11-year-old girl in Sheridan won’t face charges

Sheridan police say the driver of a sports utility vehicle that  on a bike in May will not be charged.

Investigators say Aundrea Plunkett-Pearson rode her bike through a stop sign on West Girard Avenue and onto South Zuni Street where she was struck by a southbound Ford Expedition.

The May 22 crash was reconstructed by an expert from the Parker Police Department, according to police.

“The investigation further determined that the driver saw the victim enter the street and swerved and tried to avoid (her) prior to contact,” Sheridan police said in a news release.  “The investigation also determined that there was no probable cause to charge the driver or any other person concerning this incident.”

Aundrea died at Denver Health Medical Center several days after the collision.

According to a memorial page for Aundrea, she was near her home when she was struck.

“She fought through every procedure and surgery to stabilize her, but in the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 25th Aundrea suffered a stroke that tragically left her brain dead,” the page said. “She was taken off of life support (the next day).”
