Strong storms are pounding the Colorado Springs area with heavy rain, hail and winds on Friday evening.
The National Weather Service in Pueblo is warning residents to brace for severe thunderstorms and possible flash floods south and east of the city. A tornado warning was in effect for about 45 minutes as a strong storm cell moved through the area, but there were no reports of a touchdown.

Elsewhere, there will be a chance of severe weather including hail and damaging rains in the Denver metro area and across the Eastern Plains on Friday afternoon.
Severe thunderstorms were expected in eastern Weld, northeastern Morgan and southwestern Logan counties.
In southeast Colorado, a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for Baca, Bent, Crowley, El Paso, Huerfano, Kiowa, Las Animas, Otero, Prowers and Pueblo counties.
“Right now there is nothing set in stone,” said Natalie Gusack, meteorologist for the weather service’s office in Boulder. “But it is possible that some areas could have everything that severe weather entails: hail, damaging winds and tornadoes.”

Although it is not considered an element of severe conditions, torrential rain is also possible, Gusack said.
There is a diminishing chance for afternoon rain and thunderstorms on Saturday.
It will be hot through the weekend with temperatures expected to reach 92 on Saturday and 93 on Sunday, the NWS says.
There is a 10 percent chance of afternoon rain and thunderstorms on Monday.
High temperatures will range from the mid-to-high 80s Monday through Thursday, according to the NWS.
