Coloradans can expect humid, hot summer weather in the coming week and may see a pressure system that could bring a significant heat wave next weekend.

“This is normal summer weather, we are actually going to be below average Sunday and Monday and then stay average,” said Natalie Gusack, a National Weather Service in Boulder spokesperson. “We’re in July, so itap summertime temperatures.”

On Sunday and Monday, monsoon moisture and below average temps will end Saturday’s low relative humidities, high winds and hot temps, which led to Red Flag Warnings in many counties. The warning signals a high chance of wildfires.

In seven-to-nine days a huge pressure system is forecast in the central U.S., which could result in the hottest heat wave of the summer, although it’s still too early to say exactly how hot it will be.

“Between Thursday and Saturday of next week, while much of the country is forecast to be hotter than normal, the biggest heat anomalies are predicted from the central United States to the Upper Midwest,” writes Jason Samenow, The Washington Post. “In these locations, temperatures may be 10 to 20 degrees above average.”
