Re: July 14 Paul Ryan column.
House Speaker Paul Ryan’s support of Donald Trump for president completely undermines any moral authority to claim that allowing Hillary Clinton access to classified information is too a great a risk to this country. It is clear to many Americans that Donald Trump presents a very real threat to our national security right now by his hate-filled and divisive rhetoric, his total ignorance of the U.S. Constitution, and his complete lack of knowledge with regards to foreign affairs. Even people in your own party have said he can’t be trusted with the nuclear codes, and that he is “bully,” a “narcissist” and “utterly amoral.” Should Donald Trump start receiving classified intelligence briefings, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least to see him tweeting out some of the things he learns in them.

Paul Ryan makes his point on why Hillary Clinton should not receive classified information as a candidate. His final statement, “[G]iven Clinton’s extraordinary lack of discretion and judgment, the risk is just too great,” could also be applied to Trump. So why not take Ryan’s advice and provide neither candidate with classified information updates? The one elected would have two months before inauguration to be briefed.
