
Man found sleeping in bushes. On July 5, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Walmart, 13420 W. Coal Mine Ave., on a report of a suspicious man hiding behind the bushes. The suspect had reportedly flashed a badge at the reporting party and said he was a private investigator. The suspect was contacted sleeping in the bushes and denied flashing a badge, but said he had been arguing with his parents and decided to sleep there. He was taken home.
Rock thrown through window. A man called deputies July 7 after a rock was thrown through his window in the 7000 block of Gore Range Road. The man said he was on vacation and was notified by a neighbor that someone threw a rock through the window. The owner had no suspect information.
Mary Kay lady nearly scammed. On July 7, a Mary Kay saleswoman called deputies after she received a suspicious order while in the 8000 block of South Upham Way. The woman said a man placed an order via email, but later said he was in an accident and his secretary had sent too much money. He asked her to send back the difference to an address. The woman recognized this as a scam and contacted authorities.
Possible stolen car reported. A man called deputies July 3 after he saw two people walk away from what seemed like a stolen car in the 2000 block of South Youngfield Court. The reporting party noticed that the ignition seemed to be punched in, and there was damage to the door lock. The deputy found an illegal knife and a receipt from a pawn shop inside. The car was marked as abandoned.
Suspicious car reported. On July 5, a man called police to report a suspicious vehicle that was driving around the parking lot without headlights on at Church of All Nations, 6500 W. Coal Mine Ave. The reporting party was nervous because there had previously been vandalism at the church, and he also noted the car began following him home. Police contacted the suspect, who said he was just driving to clear his mind and following the other driver was a coincidence.
