Micron Technology Inc., the Boise, Idaho-based solid-state storage device maker, has laid off nearly one-third of its Longmont work force after posting disappointing financial results.
Jessica Erickson, president of the Longmont Economic Development Partnership, said local Micron officials told the EDP there would be 70 layoffs at the facility.
The company had employed 242 people locally as of late last year, according to the EDP.
In a statement, Micron spokesman Daniel Francisco said, “Micron’s strategy is not changing, but the company needs to make adjustments in the business to address the current market environment and strengthen its financial position.
