Denver coroner identifies two women found dead in Montbello neighborhood

Authorities in Denver have identified the two women in the city’s Montbello neighborhood.

Maira Cordero-Cuesta, 26, and Raquel Cordero-Cuesta, 45, died of “sharp force injuries,” the city’s medical examiner’s office said Monday. Their manners of death have been ruled homicides.

The women were found by officers responding to reports of a dead person in a house in the 5500 block of North Revere Street. Investigators have not said if, or how, the two are related.

Angel Chavez, 27, has been taken into custody in the case. He was area just before 3 p.m., Denver police said.

Chavez’s arrest records have been sealed.

Chavez is being held without bail at the city’s downtown jail, records show.  He is also currently on parole, according to the Colorado Department of Corrections.
