Temperatures will remain hot Wednesday and there is a chance for rain and thunderstorms in the evening in the Denver area.
The high is expected to reach 92 degrees under mostly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
“Typical summer. Afternoon showers,” said meteorologist Kyle Fredin.
Wednesday night there is a 10 percent chance of rain before 1 a.m. Winds shifting from the south to the north in the afternoon could gust as high as 17 mph.
“There’s a better chance for showers tomorrow afternoon,” Fredin said.
Early Thursday morning, patchy fog is forecast for Denver before 9 a.m.
After the fog burns away it will be mostly sunny, with a high of 91 degrees and a low of 60. There is a 20 percent chance for rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon.
On Friday, there is a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. The temperature will be about 88 degrees.
The forecast calls for a slight warm up this weekend with an expected high of 93 on Saturday and 94 on Sunday, the NWS said.
The heat will continue into the first part of next week with temperatures in the lower 90s Monday and Tuesday.
