Larimer County deputies arrested a man who allegedly attacked a woman he was camping with on U.S. Forest Service land west of Fort Collins.
Travis Nilles, 28, of Westminster was camping with a 42-year-old woman when a disagreement between the two led to the altercation. “Nilles jumped on top of the woman and tried to stab her twice,” according to a release from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities did not release the identity of the woman.
Nilles also was injured in the altercation about 7:50 p.m. Saturday.
The 42-year-old woman, who was bleeding from her arms, went to the nearby Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp for assistance, and someone called 911.
The woman and Nilles were taken to a hospital, where they were treated and released. Nilles was arrested upon his release and is being held in the Larimer County jail pending a bail hearing. He faces charges of second-degree assault, menacing and obstruction of telephone service.
