Re: Aug. 29 letter to the editor.

Letter-writer Forrest Monroe questions why Sen. Michael Bennet seems to be escaping fallout for his support of the deal with Iran. At the time of the deal, we had two choices. We could attack the Iranian nuclear weapon development sites, which no doubt would have only delayed their nuclear program; or we could, with our United Nations Security Council allies, make a deal to stop their program cold for 10 years. Way before the 10 years are up, the U.S. and its allies will demand an extension of the deal for additional years with continued inspections. If Iran refuses, with our allies, we can still use force to prevent them from developing nuclear weapons. No one wants Iran to have nuclear weapons.
