The 16-year-old boy accused of last week will be prosecuted as an adult, the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Jeffrey Collins appeared in Boulder District Court on Monday afternoon to be formally advised of the charges he’s facing. He had appeared in juvenile court on Friday, but was rearrested on a revised warrant reflecting the adult charges.

Collins has been held on a $1 million bond since being taken into , and is expected to be formally charged Wednesday with attempted first-degree murder and felony assault on an at-risk person.

At Monday’s hearing, Chief Judge Maria Berkenkotter sealed the case temporarily as she considers a defense motion to close those records to the public, and allows the district attorney time to respond.
