UK’s The Specials have been cranking out danceable ska music for nearly 40 years. The band’s Ogden Theater show last Tuesday night showed it’s only improved with age.
There’s an interesting irony in The Specials music — Terry Hall’s dour stage manner is fitting for the heavy social and political territory that the Specials cover lyrically, but the music itself is joyful and raucous, and kept the Ogden Theater crowd skankin’ throughout the night.
If you missed them in Denver, you’re out of luck. The Specials are back homeland for an extended UK Tour.
