
Pumpkins can fly
Punkin Chunkin returns to Aurora’s Arapahoe Park Racetrack (26000 E. Quincy Ave.) on Oct. 8 and 9. Whether it’s a sport or mechanical challenge, it’s a hoot to watch large slingshots, catapults, centrifuges, trebuchets and pneumatic air cannons hurl pumpkins through the air. Hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each day also includes a pumpkin patch, obstacle course, scarecrow making, car show, food vendors, live music and children’s activities. Admission is $5 each day for adults. Children 12 and under are free, as is parking. Some activities cost extra.

These healthy savings will bowl you over. Vitality Bowls Denver (2702 E. Third Ave., Denver) is celebrating its fifth birthday. To celebrate, the superfood café is offering a medium acai bowl for just $5 on Oct. 10. It’s quite the juicy deal, given the bowls regularly sell for $9.99 to $11.99. The menu items are made fresh-to-order without any trans fats, high-fructose corn syrup, fillers, added sugar or any artificial preservatives. Plus, most of the ingredients are organic, depending on the season. The menu is full of healthy options, as you can customize your bowl with more than 30 different toppings. The restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
