What parking crunch? Denver International Airport adds 1,800 spaces with opening of new garage

DIA now manages 16,689 garage parking spaces and 44,271 total parking spaces

Denver International Airport travelers now have more options for garage parking, 1,821 of them.

A four-story, 1,821-stall parking garage on the southeast corner of Jeppesen Terminal opened to drivers at 7 a.m. Friday, bringing the total number of garage spaces at the airport to 16,689.

The cost to snag a spot in the new garage? Rates start at $3 per hour, or $24 per day. Reserved parking are available at .

“ because they offer the closest, most convenient access to the Jeppesen Terminal,” airport CEO Kim Day said in a statement.

Between Jan. 1 and Oct. 1, there were 85 days when both the east and west garages were full, airport spokesman Heath Montgomery said. began April 22.

“Certainly there are still days when the garages are full,” Montgomery said. “Garage parking is still a very sought-after amenity.”

The $45 million structure, funded through the airport’s capital improvement project fund, also includes six Level 1 electric vehicle charging stations, free on a first-come basis. Another 10 charging stations are set to be installed later this month in the west garage, airport officials said.

All told, the airport manages 44,271 parking spaces, and with the completion of the west garage project, will have 36 public charging stations.
