Police in Westminster are searching for a 28-year-old “dangerous” man who they say skipped out on sentencing for convictions related to a sexual assault on a child.

Timothy Chavez is wanted on a nationwide extradition warrant in the January 2015 sex assault of a 16-year-old.

Police say Chavez is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and has black hair and hazel eyes.

Chavez was convicted of kidnapping, false imprisonment, sexual assault by submission/force, harassment, sexual assault with a 10-year age difference and sexual contact without consent.

“These charges are very serious, and it is in the best interest of the community to have Chavez taken into custody to ensure that he is not able to victimize another child,” Westminster police said in a Thursday news release.

Anyone with information about Chavez is asked to call Westminster police immediately at 303-658-4360 or 911. Tipsters can also call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
