The Denver metro-area fell short of hitting a record high temperature Saturday although warm weather will continue to stretch through the next several days, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The record high for Oct. 22 in Colorado is 84 degrees set in 2003 and the temperature Saturday at Denver International Airport peaked at 82.

Record highs were recorded, however, in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, with the high in the latter hitting 88 degrees.

Colorado is under an upper-level pressure ridge that is keeping the western center of the country under warm, dry conditions, said NWS meteorologist Jim Kalina. Temperatures will remain in the mid-to-lower 70s for much of next week.

There is a slight chance of rain on Tuesday thanks to the arrival of a weak cold front. “But it doesn’t look like we’ll get much out of it,” Kalina said.
