Missed marksman. On Oct. 17, police responded to reports of a man who may have been carrying a rifle in the garage area of an apartment complex in the 10200 block of Commonwealth Street, Lone Tree, but never located a suspect.

Lost and found sedan. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy recovered a car reported stolen out of Trinidad in the parking lot of the Castlewood Suites DTC Meridian hotel, 10535 El Diente Court, Douglas County, on Sept. 30. The sedan, which appeared to have been abandoned for days, had been painted primer gray and all the trim pieces had been removed. A car seat and bag of diapers were recovered from inside. Investigators found no further suspect information.

Checking out. A man was arrested Oct. 7 for passing checks from a closed account at a business in the 9800 block of South Parker Road, Parker. He was under investigation for the same crime in Wheat Ridge and Greenwood Village.

Driveway disaster. The owner of a property in the 11500 block of Spruce Mountain Road, Larkspur, called police Sept. 29 to report someone had damaged the electronic mechanism that opened her front gate and had crushed closed the drainage pipe that runs under the driveway into the property sometime overnight. She theorized someone had driven off the road and caused the damage to the pipe. Two of her horses there had injuries consistent with being spooked by something. She estimated the damage at $10,500.

Bills from Texas. A woman called Lone Tree police on Oct. 17 to report the front license plate from a car she owned that was involved in an accident last year had gone missing and that she was receiving bills in the mail related to its use in Texas. No address given.
