:“,” Nov. 2 editorial.
Your editorial mischaracterizes Colorado Safety & Justice’s work. Our project, funded transparently, as ThePostnotes, by George Soros, supports prosecutors who prioritize public safety and a fairer, more effective justice system.
In Jefferson and Gilpin counties, we support Jake Lilly for district attorney. Lilly has a record of effectively prosecuting violent criminals and a platform for necessary reform. Although 34percent of Colorado’s prison population is in for nonviolent offenses, current District Attorney Pete Weir says, “It is too broad a statement to suggest that Colorado ‘has too many people that are incarcerated … .’ ”At the same time, he has presided over a pattern of disproportionate leniency for defendants convicted of crimes that badly hurt innocent victims.
Our campaign has delivered a singular message. One candidate for district attorney has the priorities that will make Jefferson and Gilpin counties safer and fairer: Jake Lilly.
