Arn Menconi, the Green Party U.S. Senate candidate for Colorado, was injured Monday when his vehicle rolled outside of Cheyenne, Wyo., as he was returning to the state from the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in the Dakotas.
Menconi posted information about the crash on social media Tuesday.
“Driving back from Standing Rock last night I totaled my car; it rolled at least 5 times, leaving me with four broken ribs,” Menconi, of Carbondale, said on Facebook. A campaign assistant was also injured.
Both were hospitalized, he said, adding that “I don’t have health insurance, so the medical bills will be expensive.”
And he told supporters he doesn’t want them to worry about him. “I know we’re all on edge today, but let’s try to make this day about giving back to others, not focusing on our own problems.”
Menconi served two terms as an Eagle County commissioner from 2001 to 2009.
account has been set up to help Menconi cover his medical expenses.
