September was the 13th month in a row that Denver International Airport blew through its monthly record for passenger traffic, welcoming more than 5 million passengers.
A total of 5.1 million passengers went through the airport in September.
“This was the first September in Denver history with more than 5 million passengers,” airport CEO Kim Day announced in a news release. “Our airline partners continue to experience strong growth, a reflection of Denver’s robust economy, which is generating a high propensity to travel and strong inbound demand for visitors traveling to Colorado.”
Year-to-date passenger traffic was 8.2 percent higher than during the same period in 2015.
A total of 171,118 international passengers traveled through the airport in September 2016, an increase of 16.1 percent over September 2015.
Mail, freight and express cargo operations saw 47,405,681 pounds of cargo in September 2016, an increase of 0.5 percent compared to the same month in 2015.
