Good for Dr. Warren Hern for placing a full-page ad in Sunday’s Denver Post. The ad exposes the witch hunt that Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., is using against Hern, a Boulder abortion doctor. The petty details her committee is demanding are an obvious abuse of power. By requesting names from everyone and anyone who may have indirectly communicated with Hern, her committee insinuates involvement by many in the public and is invading personal privacy. Her wide and excruciating letter shows she is using big government power to destroy Hern, tactics just like Joe McCarthy would have used in the 1950s. Quite an irony from a person and a political party that espouses limiting government power. My hope is that some moderate Republicans will stand up to her hypocrisy.
