New car and truck registrations in Colorado bounced back in October, and pulling year-to-date figures into positive territory, according to a report Monday from the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association.

Colorado reported 23,003 new car and light truck registrations in October, up 26.1 percent from the same month last year, according to data compiled by Experian Automotive. Through the first 10 months of the year, the state had 167,332 new-vehicle registrations, versus 166,627 in 2015, an increase of 0.4 percent.

“While U.S. car industry sales continued to slide downward, Colorado’s consumers hit the accelerator for new car and truck registrations in October, reversing several months of negative new vehicle registrations,” CADA president Tim Jackson said in a statement.

Used-vehicle registrations also rebounded from a slow September, up 35.9 percent in October year over year to 23,503. Year to date, used car and truck registrations were up 8.5 percent to 174,071. The report only counts used vehicles seven years old or newer.

Volvo, Mitsubishi and Fiat continued to lead the pack among the top 30 brands in new vehicle registrations, all up at least 29.6 percent year to date. On the flip side, Chrysler, Dodge and Kia have seen the biggest decreases, down at least 14.1 percent so far this year.
