The fact that Donald Trump is actually interviewing David Petraeus for the Cabinet position of secretary of state demonstrates Trump’s utter hypocrisy.
During the presidential campaign, Trump continually demonized Hillary Clinton for her use of private e-mails as secretary of state and called for her imprisonment. As reported in your article, the FBI investigation found “there was no evidence that Clinton or her aides intended to break the law through careless handling of sensitive information.”
Trump is now considering Petraeus, the former CIA director, for the same secretary of state position. In 2015, Petraeus was convicted of mishandling classified material by sharing documents with his then lover, Paula Broadwell, knowing it contained classified information. His lawyers kept him out of prison by negotiating a plea deal with the Justice Department.
Trump’s consideration of Petraeus shows a serious lack of judgment by someone who will occupy the highest office in the land.
