Authorities have identified the two people — a man and a woman — that was resting on its roof submerged in Bear Creek in Evergreen.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office says the driver was Corry Danks,a 26-year-old from Conifer. His passenger was 20-year-old Kira Blaugher-Wyszomirski, of Evergreen.

“Their autopsies haven’t been done yet,” Dan Pruett, chief deputy coroner, said Thursday.

Danks and Blaugher-Wyszomirski were found in the iced-over car. The vehicle’s tires were barely visible above the creek’s water.

A passerby reported the 2015 Volkswagen was in the water near 37134 Colorado 74 at about 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday.

“We don’t have a time as to precisely when it went in, but it appears to have been in there for at least several hours,” said Trooper Josh Lewis, a spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.

The incident is under investigation.
