A 42-year-old Penrose woman may face 64 counts of cruelty to animals, according to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities seized 55 of Penny Gingerich’s horses on Friday from a property the 1000 block of L Street, according to the sheriff’s office.
Gingerich had removed nine horses from the property, eight of which were found at a sale barn in the Fort Collins area, according to the sheriff’s office. The location of the other horse remains unknown. The sheriff’s office didn’t provide information about the horses, which have been taken to a secure holding facility.
Investigators from the Colorado Humane Society and the Denver Dumb Friends League worked with Fremont County deputies Friday.
