Why Sen. Gardner thinks the EPA-caused Gold King Mine spill — which the agency has taken responsibility for — justifies the anti-environment, anti-conservationist Scott Pruitt as head of the EPA is beyond me.
The EPA didn’t create the dangerous buildup of toxic metals that was released from this mine, but since private mining companies all over Colorado and the West refuse to clean up their own messes, the EPA had to.
The EPA was created by a Republican president in response to American air and waters badly polluted irresponsibly by big business. Sen. Gardner’s support for Pruitt makes me fear for the future quality of the air and waters of our lovely state — and nation.
