Re: Feb. 16 letters to the editor.
Letter-writer Peter Bryan takes issue with a major newspaper like The Denver Post using terms such as “liar” when referring to President Donald Trump. However, Bryan’s objection strikes me as blaming the consequence instead of the cause.
Trump has raised bald-faced lying and the self-serving twisting of facts to unprecedented and, indeed, dangerous levels. Major news organizations have an obligation to report on the presidentap purposeful, in-your-face deviations from the truth, especially on matters of critical importance to our country.
Ditto for the speech of Trump’s dissembling handlers. If Trump supporters wish the press to cease using such labels, perhaps they should hold the president accountable for his frequent prevarications instead of excusing them.
