REI gives $30,000 to support Jefferson County mountain bike trails

REI is investing $30,000 in Jefferson County mountain bike trails.

The retailer has joined the — more 150 trail-building volunteers who have spent since the devastating floods of 2013 — to continue the bike trail work at Jefferson County parks. The team has already done extensive work at the county’s Apex, Windy Saddle (Chimney Gulch) and North Table Mountain parks.

“This support ensures we’re able to put a shovel where our voice is, working through a great list of projects with the help of our friends at Jefferson County Open Space,” said the trail boss for the Golden Giddyup, Al Head, in a statement.

The second is set for Sept. 10, with a unique enduro-styled mix of timed climbs and descents appealing to riders with varying skill levels.
