I am world-weary of our bipolar nation’s political mood swings. Swing to the hard-right, swing to the hard-left; never tarry in the middle. What about finding a balance for change?
There’s plenty of historical precedent for principled moderation. There’s Aristotle’s golden mean: a balance between excesses. There’s the Buddha’s middle way. There’s basic civility, a key ingredient of civilization, crucial to reciprocal listening and compromise.
Please help model and hold our leaders accountable to act with civility and pragmatic compromise. Please look ahead to nominate and elect principled moderates. Our country needs a big dose of figurative medication to heal our polarizing mood swings. Please help.
