Contrary to comments in your article, there are numerous examples where gravel mining and agriculture have successfully operated side by side. Both are dependent upon the natural resources in the area, and both are required to provide the basics of food and shelter.
Without the ability to mine and deliver construction aggregates to market, we would not have the necessities of roads, bridges, buildings, schools and the other items we take for granted.
The Mined Land Reclamation Board, referred to in the article, makes critical decisions that help protect the land and citizens of Colorado. They ensure the land is properly reclaimed, many times with sand and gravel operations; this results in improved natural surroundings with the addition of lakes or wetlands.
