Re: “” March 11 news story.
I’m glad that Aldo Svaldi wrote an article debunking the misconception that immigrants are anything but vital to Colorado and the U.S. economy. They contribute an enormous amount in spending power and taxes, and they work seasonal jobs that are essential to Colorado’s agriculture, tourism and outdoor recreation industries.
Immigrants not only help fill the job demand when it can’t be done locally, but they start businesses and create jobs. We need to modernize our visa system to legally bring people to the U.S. like Chuy Medrano and Jie Zheng, entrepreneurs who bring innovation and positively impact our economy.
There is a widespread and bipartisan call for immigration reform. I urge our bipartisan Colorado delegation to lead the charge in Congress, and to do whatap right for Colorado and the country. We have always been a nation of immigrants and should continue to encourage opportunity.
