An explosion and fire sent two people to the hospital and injured two others Saturday evening at the Rosebud Motel, 660 E. Eisenhower Blvd., in Loveland.
Fire officials at the scene said the two transported to a local hospital were awake and alert when they were taken.
In addition, a Loveland Fire Rescue Authority firefighter suffered minor neck injuries when debris landed on his head. The firefighter was treated and released by Thompson Valley Emergency Medical Services crews at the scene.
According to Battalion Division Chief Greg Ward, crews from the department were already at the motel just at 7:12 p.m. answering an unrelated medical call in the front of the building when the explosion occurred in the single-story group of rooms on the south side of complex. They were able to get more crews at the scene quickly.
The fire was under control quickly, but the structural damage to two units closest to Monroe Avenue meant assessment was occurring well into the evening.
“The fire itself was contained to the first two units,” Ward said.
