
Re: April 27 editorial.
I am grateful to Gov. John Hickenlooper for representing Colorado’s positions on marijuana and immigration to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, but I am hesitant to agree with the guv’s positive interpretation of the AG’s response. The current administration in Washington typically takes several mutually exclusive positions on many controversial issues, and then whips out the one it needs as circumstances (or prejudices) dictate.
We must remember the parable of the Scorpion and the Turtle. It is Sessions’ nature to abhor marijuana, and his smile yesterday could be followed tomorrow by government helicopters spraying paraquat on Colorado marijuana fields “for our own good.”
