Connor Mitchell, right, works on a computer at a cafe in San Francisco on April 13, 2017. With college costs rising steadily and with more courses available online for free, some observers are beginning to question the need for a traditional college education that may include lectures on Greek philosophy but burden students with massive debt. Your article about online learning focuses on Minerva, a university “named after the Greek goddess of wisdom.” I only had a stodgy liberal arts education where we read books and stuff. We even had lectures on Greek philosophy. But I did learn that the Greek goddess of wisdom was Athena, not Minerva. (The writer was close — Minerva was the Roman name for the goddess of wisdom.)
